Step by step
- 1
Source for free
Filter FB Marketplace/Gumtree by "Free" or "Under £10". Look for solid wood, not MDF.
- 2
Prep is everything
Clean with sugar soap, sand (120 then 220 grit), and fill scratches with 2-part wood filler.
- 3
Paint professionally
Use Frenchic or Rust-Oleum mineral/chalk paints. Use a foam roller for a smooth finish.
- 4
Upgrade hardware
Swap cheap knobs for matte black or brass pulls (buy in bulk on Amazon).
- 5
Stage the shoot
Photograph the piece inside with a stylish lamp and plant in natural daylight.
