Paid Surveys, Research Studies & Cashback
What it is
Getting paid small amounts for taking part in research studies and surveys, or earning cashback on spending you already do. It will not replace a job, but it needs no skills and can fill spare minutes.

Step by step
- 1
Start with the best payers
Prolific (academic research) pays the best. It sets a £6 an hour minimum and recommends researchers pay at least £9, but studies are not always available. YouGov and Swagbucks pay less but are easy to start.
- 2
Never pay to join
Real survey sites are free. If a site asks for money upfront or personal ID you cannot justify, it is a scam.
- 3
Stack cashback on spending you already do
Use TopCashback or Quidco before online shopping, and check the rate. Combine with sale prices and voucher codes.
- 4
Fill small gaps
Do a study on the bus or while waiting. Keep different devices and browsers logged in so you never miss a high paying slot.
- 5
Track earnings and tax
Keep a record of what you earn. Small amounts fall under the trading allowance (£1,000), but check your own situation.
